Lefke is located in the northwest of Northern Cyprus. Nicosia is 78 km from Ercan airport, 62 km from Nicosia and 68 km from Kyrenia. There is no precise information as to where the name Lefke comes from. Lefke, founded in 300 BC, is the strongest assumption that it was named after Prince Lefkon of the Egyptian dynasty. Throughout history, it has been home to many civilizations due to its fresh air, peaceful environment, greenery, abundant water resources and copper mines. Bakı mines started to be processed since ancient times (5000-3000 BC). Copper mines are a major factor in the development of the city as a trading port.

It was destroyed during the Arab raids in the 7th century. Geometric and animal themed mosaics on the floor of the church have survived to the present day. The Vouni (Vuni) Palace-Castle was built by the king of Persia (Persia) in the 5th century BC to take control of Soli and the region. It was destroyed by the Soli people who rebelled in 380 BC. Only the remains survived.
